based timeshare vacation ownership programs are
taking the timeshare world by storm. Points based
timeshare ownership is the overwhelming choice of
new timeshare owners who want a vacation ownership

traveling to their home resort.

think the easiest way to think about points based
vacation ownership just like a checking account
for your vacations. When you become a points based
timeshare owner, the number of points you receive
will be your "vacation currency". The
beginning balance of your vacation currency account
will be the amount of points that you buy.
Points
based time share ownership allows you to "shop"
for your vacations.
Many
points programs also allow owners to use their points
for other things related to their vacations, such
as car rentals, hotel stays, airline tickets and
other things. Membership benefits vary by each individual
program.
How
many points do I need?
The amount of points you need will depend on your
vacation style and the points based vacation ownership
program you choose. Every points program has their
own point value or "vacation currency"
rate. The amount of points it takes to travel as
an RCI Points owner are not the same number of points
it would take to travel as a Bluegreen owner.
We
think points in general are great. The only potential
drawback with points based time share vacation ownership
programs is that points values can change; a week
will always be a week. That being said, the benefits
of points based timeshares are of tremendous value
to many people. Our family personally owns points,
and we love them.
